A father fatally stabbed his wife and three children before killing himself at their family home in Hawaii on Sunday morning, shocking a suspected murder-suicide.

Honolulu police found a knife after gaining entry to the home. All five bodies were found dead at the scene at the home in Manoa, a quiet residential area of ​​Honolulu.

The massacre is the second deadliest homicide in Honolulu in nearly 25 years.

Police said they received an anonymous call at 8:30 a.m. about a disturbance at that home on Waaloa Place, but no one answered the door for police officers when they arrived.

Officers returned to the house 45 minutes later at 9.15am when the discovery of the five dead was made.

A heavy police presence was seen at a home on Waaloa Place in north Manoa, Hawaii News Now reported.

Two medical assessment vans were also seen next to Police Chief Logan and PEER support staff for officers.
