Hunter Biden’s trial began with jury selection on June 3 — just days after former President Donald Trump was convicted in a Manhattan court of 34 charges over his hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

The back-to-back trials show how common the legal challenges facing both the current and former presidents are, with just five months until the 2024 presidential election.

Every day, Hunter was seen entering the courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware, holding hands with his wife Melissa Cohen Biden.

Just a week after the trial of the president’s son began, closing arguments were delivered Monday and the jury was sent out to deliberate on a verdict.

If Hunter is found guilty of all three charges, he could face up to 25 years in prison, although first-time offenders typically do not receive the maximum sentence.

The charge stems from the 2018 purchase of a firearm in Delaware, where Hunter is accused of lying about his addiction to crack cocaine when filling out a federal form to obtain a gun.

The trial, despite only lasting a week, had several dramatic moments, including an outburst from the first son’s wife.

On the second day of the trial on Tuesday, Cohen slammed Biden into former Trump associate Garrett Ziegler as he attended the hearing, calling him a “Nazi piece of s***.”

During the dramatic outburst outside the Delaware courtroom, Hunter’s wife, wearing a baby blue jacket, pink shirt and heels, stood just six inches away from Ziegler and said, “You have no right to be here, you piece of Nazi.”

Ziegler did not respond.

The former Trump aide became infamous among the Bidens after publishing extensive material from Hunter’s laptop through Marco Polo – his right-wing nonprofit.

The contents of the explosive laptop hard drive were shared with the jury during the trial – including videos, photos and text messages.

Evidence from the device showed the president’s son was in the grips of drug addiction in 2018, the same year he purchased the firearm.

Melissa Cohen Biden shook her head as prosecutor Derek Hines took the Macbook Pro 13 from a plastic case, walked around the courtroom with it and presented it to the jury during a dramatic day in court.

The revelation came on the second day of the trial, when Hunter “smoked crack every 15 minutes” as the prosecutor detailed his life of “debauchery.”

Hines’ first witness was FBI agent Erika Jensen, who confirmed that the device belonged to Hunter – an admission that flew in the face of many who tried to discredit its contents as Russian disinformation.

He then showed the court evidence taken from the ‘Laptop from Hell’ – including photos of text messages in which Hunter calls himself an ‘addict’ and his conversations with suspected drug dealers.

The laptop, along with admissions in his own memoir Beautiful Things, revealed that he was in the depths of addiction during the same period in which he said on a federal firearms form that he was not an addict or a user of illegal substances.

Hunter also faces a separate lawsuit in California on charges of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes. It is expected that it will go to trial this fall.

Both cases were expected to be resolved through a deal he struck with prosecutors last summer after a years-long investigation into his business dealings.

If the deal held up, the president’s son would avoid jail time.

But the plea deal fell apart in spectacular fashion in court in July 2023, leaving Hunter open to new charges and allowing both cases to proceed.

Judge Maryellen Noreika questioned some unusual aspects of the agreement, including a proposed guilty plea to misdemeanors to resolve the tax crimes and a diversion agreement on the gun charge, which meant that as long as he stayed out of trouble for two years, the case would be settled . to get fired.
