Morgan added: “I tried an old-fashioned wig, but it made me look like I just stepped out of the Brady Bunch, so that was a no.

How can I repair damaged hair from hair dye?

Did you push the paint too far? There are ways to fix this WITHOUT cutting it all off.

  1. Give it a makeover: We’re not saying you have to cut it all off, but you should trim away the worst split ends.
  2. Skip the heat products: Stop styling/curling your hair immediately.
  3. Stop Dyeing Your Hair: Stop bleaching and use ammonia-free semi-permanent hair dye for the time being.
  4. Switch to sulfate-free: Use milder, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners to repair your damaged hair. And if possible, wash your hair no more than twice a week, as this strips damaged hair and makes it brittle.
  5. Treatment masks: Use one of the hair masks below to rejuvenate your locks.
  6. Sun protection: Cover your damaged hair while sunbathing or swimming in a chlorinated pool to prevent further damage.
  7. Eat your hair healthy: make sure you drink plenty of water, eat omega 3 fatty acids from salmon, walnuts and flaxseed, and green vegetables like spinach, kale, carrots and avocado. Some prenatal supplements also promote hair growth.

Many people responded with kindness and encouragement in the comments, and some shared their own advice.

Someone wrote: ‘Been a hairdresser for over ten years. You get your hair chemically cut. Pixie and start over. Buy a wig if you hate the pixie.’

“I’m sorry this happened to you.”

A second added: “Your face can totally rock a pixie haircut!”

And a third commented: “Whoever did this to you should have their license revoked. I’m so sorry!!!!”
