Starbucks has announced enormous cuts on his business workforce as part of his reversal plans.
The new CEO of the Brian Niccol coffee chain announced on Monday that 1,100 employees would be fired and hundreds of open positions would not be filled.
Niccol said that the massive dismissals are 'necessary' to remove double jobs and to increase the focus.
“We believe that it is a necessary change to position Starbucks for future success,” Niccol said in a statement.
Starbucks has around 16,000 business employees who work on the company outside the day to day through cafés. Shopping workers such as Baristas are not influenced.
The brutal cuts are among the largest in the history of the chain, which in 2018 cut five percent of its workforce, around 350 people.
Office staff has been asked to work from home this week, while the company is introduced to those who are fired.
Employees will be informed on Tuesday whether they belong to those who lose their jobs.

Despite Niccol's Turnaround plans, Starbuck's still reported his fourth consecutive quarter of decreases, with a turnover in the quarter of 4 percent in the quarter in December.
The chain suffered after customers are tired of years of price increases, long rows and poor service.
Niccol has reduced the number of deals and menu options in an attempt to stimulate the business results of the company.
He also has the popular advantage of being able to visit a Starbucks location without ordering anything.
The former CEO of Chipotle is also considering re -introducing free newspapers in the 16,000 stores of the chain.
Self -service spice staves, where customers can add their own extra milk and sugars, are also restored.
Shortly after taking over the top track, Niccol Undercover went to Starbucks locations to investigate customer complaints.
After he discovered how long it took to get his basic Americano, Niccol promised to accelerate the service and bring back the old café -atmosphere of Starbucks.
