A Queensland influencer has accused a daycare center of ‘discrimination’ after they said her non-verbal son with special needs was no longer welcome.

Kathryn Denny, a mummy blogger whose five-year-old son was diagnosed with level three autism, has been keeping her fans updated on the situation via TikTok since last year.

The story began in November when Kathryn was forced to resort to crowdfunding to pay for her son’s speech therapy after his government disability funding ran out.

At the time, Kathryn paid for her son to attend a special needs daycare Monday through Friday, while simultaneously paying for a one-on-one caregiver to care for him at the facility due to the severity of his autism.

When available funding was only $5,000, Kathryn was forced to ask his daycare center to reduce his time with the one-on-one caregiver from five to three days a week, while still attending daycare Monday through Friday Remained.

According to Kathryn, this request was denied.

In a tearful TikTok video posted on November 28, Kathryn revealed how she flew into a rage at the daycare owner over the phone after learning her son was “no longer welcome.”

‘I said, ‘So because we can’t afford his daily therapy, he’s no longer welcome at the center? I said, ‘Do you realize how hard it is to have him home every day? TikTok video on November 28.

“She had the nerve to tell me I was aggressive when I was literally in tears, trying to make her understand,” the blonde cried.

Kathryn managed to raise the money and keep her son in daycare, but returned to TikTok in February with more complaints about the facility.

This time, the influencer claimed she clashed with the daycare owner because her son was picked up an hour after his one-on-one care ended.

According to Kathryn, the daycare had refused to let her son join the rest of the class if his personal caregiver was not there.

“We pay the childcare fee just like every other child in that room, plus $390 for one-on-one for five hours. But outside of those five hours he is not welcome at the daycare center?’ she smoked.

The story took a twist when the daycare decided to simply cancel her son’s registration.

Kathryn claimed her son was kicked out because of his special needs and the fact she had previously complained about the facility on social media.

“He is no longer welcome at the center or because I wondered why he was not allowed to be at the center when we pay ten hours of childcare allowance just like any other child,” she raged.

‘He was discriminated against because of his disability and his high needs by a special needs centre, and also because I expressed my experiences on social media, which I have the right to do.’

Kathryn took the situation to heart and said she was “actually so happy” she no longer had to deal with the facility.
