International student Geeth Madushanka, 28, is fighting for life after one-punch attack

A Sri Lankan international student is fighting for his life after being beaten like a coward by a stranger.

Geeth Madushanka, 28, was attacked at a BPD home petrol Langford station, Perthon May 25 at approximately 10 p.m.

Police allege Madushanka was pushed in the face by Cyril Benedict Garlett, 30, and then punched in the face, causing the student to fall and hit his head.

Mr Madushanka, who has been studying in Perth since February, is still being treated in the intensive care unit at Royal Perth Hospital a week later.

Officers allege Garlett had already attacked two other men earlier that day.

His loved ones are now raising money for his treatment on GoFundMe, saying he still has a “long road ahead.” So far they have raised $9,000.

Garlett has been charged with grievous bodily harm, assault causing bodily harm and criminal damage or destruction of property.
