BallerinaThe director has revealed that the idea of Keanu Reeves was to end the action thriller in the same way as the second John Wick film.
Speaking for the global release of the film on June 6, Len Wiseman told Techradar that Reeves, who plays the titular hitman of the franchise, suggested that that BallerinaThe last scene should mirror that of 2017 John Wick: Chapter 2.
Full spoilers follow immediately for From the world of John Wick: BallerinaSo turn back if you haven’t looked at it yet.
Ballerina Ends with the Eve Macarro by Ana de Armas who monitors her good friend, who was also a Ruska Roma Assassin-in training before she was kicked out by the director, reached her dream to become a full ballet dancer.
While Macarro, however, looks at her performance in a local theater, the images is interspersed with someone who hit a contract on the titular character. Countless telephones – owned by other Hitmen, no less – start pinging and buzzing in the theater, where Macarro quickly becomes aware. Knowing that she is in danger if she lingers, she leaves quietly through one of the fire from the location.
The end is not wrong John Wick: Chapter 2The last scene. That film, which takes place years before Ballerina (More information about the timeline of this franchise in my John Wick movies in order Guide) concludes with the Hitman of the same name who is forced to flee.
That is because Wick performed a fellow killer on the site of the New York branch of the Continental, a chain of Hitman-Safehouses, which is a big no-no. Subsequently, a premium reluctantly is placed on Wick’s head by Winston Scott, the Continental New York manager and Wick’s Ally. While Wick flees the stage, the telephones of murderers start to ring in his surroundings to inform them of the reward for those who successfully fall the wick.
‘When Keanu and I finish it [his on-screen involvement] in BallerinaWe spoke about how this film would end, “Wiseman told me”, and that end was all the idea of Keanu. He wanted that last moment to be a riff at the last moment of the second film, which speaks of the theme ‘Actions and consequences’ that these films go through. “
No matter how clear it is, the open nature of From the world of John Wick: BallerinaThe last scene teases the possibility that Macarro’s journey will continue in Lionsgate’s multi-billion dollar business. So, does Wiseman have some thoughts about where this film-led film series could go in the Wick-fresh?
“On a fantasy way, yes, I have my ideas [of where a follow-up could go]”Wiseman answered when I asked for possible follow -up plans.” But I would like to hear what people first respond to in this film. I hope that there is speculation of fans about whom they think that will also come after Eva, because we don’t really know who that is. “
Wiseman is not the only cast and crew member who wants one of the 2025 New films To set up a future episode in the world of Wick.
In a separate chat, Norman Reedus, who plays the criminal under -utilized Daniel (read more about why I think that is the case in my Ballerina judgement), he said that there is much more to explore with his character. Indeed, the only things we really know about Daniel are that he is the son of the now deceased cult leader of Gabriel Byrne, known as the Chancellor, has a daughter and survived BallerinaThe events thanks to Macarro.
“I would like to do all those things,” said Reedus when I asked if he would like to have his own spin-off film, appears Ballerina 2and/or appear in John Wick Chapter 5. “Let’s place it there in the universe. I mean, it’s a no-brainer and, if this film is doing well, who knows what the future has in store?”
