James Middleton has revealed his bittersweet Christmas celebrations as he marks the holidays as a father for the first time.

The brother of the Princess of Wales welcomed a baby boy, Ingo, with his French wife Alizee in October, but there was an air of sadness surrounding the festive season following the death of James’ beloved spaniel, Ella, in January this year.

He shared a photo of his Christmas tree with a photo of Ella at the top, proud of his place, and wrote: ‘The angel in our tree watches over us. My first Christmas in 16 years without Ella, but our first with Inigo. Merry Christmas from my family to yours.”

He has previously revealed how Ella stopped him from ‘considering suicide’ during his battle with depression, saying that ‘during tough times’ he would spend an entire day without speaking to anyone other than her.

James also shared a photo of himself cradling Inigo as they met Santa, surrounded by his faithful dogs.

In late October, the Princess of Wales’ brother shared an adorable Instagram post to announce that his son had been born a few weeks earlier.

The new dad shared a photo of Inigo’s tiny hand ‘holding’ a badge featuring an emblem of his late beloved dog Ella, and another photo of the little baby in his crib as James’ other dogs watched over him, praising the NHS for caring for both Alizee and the newborn at Basingstoke Hospital where he was born.

He also revealed he has already taught little Inigo about Ella, who passed away in January this year leaving James heartbroken.

While he didn’t reveal Inigo’s exact birthday, he said the little one was in his life for “just a few weeks.”

In a heartfelt announcement on Instagram, James wrote: ‘He’s only been in our lives for a few weeks, but getting to know our beautiful baby boy has been the most special of my life.

‘No matter how good I thought I was… I was not prepared for the overwhelming emotion of first meeting Inigo and loving my sweet Alizee when we turned three.

‘We have settled into our new life as parents and I told him all about Ella and that if it wasn’t for her he wouldn’t be here today and that we miss her so much.

‘The dogs have done a fantastic job of welcoming their little brother into the pack (although Inka should know the teddy bears aren’t just for her…)

‘We would like to thank the amazing team at Basingstoke Hospital, from the very first scan to walking out the front door for the first time when we were three. We couldn’t have felt more supported and cared for, so thank you NHS.”

James also credited Ella with introducing him to his wife Alizee.

In 2014 he was at Chelsea’s South Kensington Club when Ella was ‘on her way to Alizée’.

James, who was ’embarrassed’, went to him ‘to apologize and bring Ella back’, recalling how Alizée thought he was a ‘waiter’ and ‘ordered her a drink while he continued to pet Ella , who was currently lying on her back, licking her lips. the attention.’
