Brolin may be better known for playing another villainous Marvel character – Thanos – in Marvel Studios' Avengers films.

Although in 2019, shortly after Disney's massive acquisition of 20th Century Fox was announced, Brolin said at ACE Comic-Con Seattle that he was inquiring with the studio about the future of his Cable character.

'I don't know what's going to happen. I actually called them, like, 'What's going on with Cable, man?'” Brolin said at the convention.

“Seriously, 100 percent seriously. They're figuring it out. It's a big world now, it's just gotten much, much bigger. So who knows,” he added.

Brolin's character Cable from Deadpool 2 was a cybernetic warrior who traveled back in time from the future to kill a young mutant named Russell Collins, aka Firefist (Julian Dennison).

The actor signed on for Deadpool 2 in April 2017, with the original story completed The Hollywood Reporter which revealed that Brolin's deal was for a total of four films.

Of course, that deal was with 20th Century Fox before it was acquired by Disney, and given his uncertainty about the character, it's likely that the terms of that deal have changed between then and now.

Very little is known about Deadpool and Wolverine's story, but when Hugh Jackman's involvement was confirmed, an important detail was revealed.

It was confirmed that this story will take place before the events of 2017's Logan, where Jackman's Wolverine was killed, set in the year 2029.

All that is known about the story is that Deadpool and Wolverine will eventually team up again and that they will “work together to defeat a common enemy.”

The first Deadpool was released in 2016 and made box office history as the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, earning $782.8 million worldwide on a budget of just $58 million.

The 2018 sequel Deadpool 2 grossed $785.6 million out of a $110 million budget that paved the way for Deadpool and Wolverine.
