Klopp reveals what Liverpool fan Ivan Toney said to him at full-time

LIVERPOOL BOSS Jurgen Klopp has revealed Brentford striker Ivan Toney's thoughtful message to him.

Toney confirmed in the match program that he was a Liverpool fan and stomped on the Kop boss's foot after the final whistle.

The pair chatted and Klopp, who will leave Anfield at the end of the season, explained: “It was like smiling at him because he's obviously quite a handful and very difficult to play against – although I have another word used.

“Am I right in saying that he is a Liverpool supporter and he is not shy about saying it?

“I can admit it too. We talked about it a bit and he wished me the best of luck for the future.

“A lot of people have said it, a lot of players.

“It's not necessary, but it's nice when you hear it.

“No one has to worry: I will find something, a place to watch the Premier League.

“It was a nice conversation.”

Toney is a top transfer target among Premier League clubs for the next transfer window, with Chelsea and Arsenal vying to sign the striker.

The Bees are currently asking for a fee of more than £80m for Toney, who has made a goalscoring return following his gambling ban.

Klopp said he had also spoken to a few more Brentford players and found them as good to talk to as they were difficult to play against.

The Liverpool boss said: “This is the strange thing in football.

“This is probably one of the nicest teams and coaching staff you can deal with.

“You play against them, you want to take them down every five seconds because that's just annoying.

“Everything is aimed at making you look really rubbish.

“But other than that it's a great club and I like everything. Just don't play them!
