Bangalore: Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Friday attacked the national education policy, saying it is incompatible with the federal system and contains several anomalies that undermine the constitution and democracy. In his budget speech in the Legislative Assembly, he said that the government of Karnataka would formulate a new education policy taking into account the local social, cultural and economic environment of the state.
The new policy would elevate higher education standards in the state to the global level and enable young people to compete globally and gain meaningful job opportunities, said the chief minister, who has the finance portfolio. Siddaramaiah claimed that the central government’s national education policy is incompatible with the federal system of governance. “It has several anomalies that undermine the constitution and democracy,” said the prime minister. “A uniform education system does not suit a country like India with different religions, languages and cultures”.
Siddaramaiah also addressed the threat of fake certificates and said that to tackle the problem, the government would make it mandatory for higher education students in the state to register in the Academic Bank of Credits and to access cards and education certificates. from the National Academic Depository/Digilocker.
