Bangalore: Amid the rise in Covid cases, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Monday said the sub-committee of the state government’s Cabinet will meet on December 26 to discuss the recommendations of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) on further measures to be taken to control the disease. the prevailing situation in the state.

He also indicated that no restrictions will be imposed from now on while emphasizing that people should remain cautious or take precautionary measures.

“As we increase COVID testing, cases will increase. Our TAC met yesterday and had discussions. The Cabinet sub-committee meeting tomorrow will examine their suggestions or recommendations and decide what further action should be taken,” Rao said.

Speaking to reporters, he said that apart from urging people to be careful and take precautions, no restrictions will be imposed for now.

“There are no restrictions at this time (on New Year celebrations and other activities). I feel like such a situation doesn’t exist. There are no restrictions anywhere in the country or the world, despite the fact that the JN.1 subvariant is everywhere. There are no such guidelines from the central government or the World Health Organization,” he added.

“We are not here to create panic among the people. There are also central government guidelines and TAC suggestions that are being followed. The state government is handling the matters responsibly, there is no need to play politics on this,” he said, adding that the Chief Minister has directed that past mistakes in handling the situation should not be repeated.

Ashoka said in a post on X, “The Congress government is sleeping on Covid. Globally, Covid-19 cases are rising, WHO has issued an alert and the Center has sent an advisory to all states, but the Congress government in Karnataka is still in deep slumber, putting people’s lives at risk come.”

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should immediately take stock of the situation and order a mock drill to ensure that all oxygen plants are operational, he added.
