The Princess of Wales should not be seen as ‘not hardworking’ because she is ‘trying to raise our future king’, the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden tells Palace Confidential.

It comes after an analysis of public events and official meetings by the Sunday Telegraph found that Princess Anne, 73, was the hardest-working member of the British royal family this year, carrying out 457 royal engagements, 32 more than the king.

Charles, 75, was second with 425 engagements, while his wife Queen Camilla, 76, came fourth with 233. Prince William and Kate, both 41, had 172 and 128 engagements respectively.

The princess’s workload recently came under fire in Omid Scobie’s new book Endgame, in which he called her “technically a part-time working royal.”

Speaking on the Mail+ weekly chat show, Mr Eden said: ‘There is some truth to that, in that they want to spend more time with their children.

“Catherine is trying to raise our future king [Prince George], and the children, it is a very important job, so it should not be seen as not working hard. She does this in addition to appointments. So you would always expect someone like Princess Anne to do more.’

Rebecca English, the Royal Editor of the Daily Mail, added: ‘The Prince and Princess of Wales are always a bit low-key and I think this highlights the balance they are trying to strike, which means they are also focusing on a smaller number want to concentrate. of charities and to become more closely involved with these charities. That does mean less public involvement.

“Queen Elizabeth always believed that it has to be seen to be believed, royalty has to be seen to be believed, and I think those highlights… questions might arise: Is that balance right?

‘They have also made it very clear that their other big job is raising their family and being good parents.

“That’s what we saw in that lovely video of the three kids going to the baby bank: they’re actually raising three very happy, well-adjusted kids who are comfortable with the spotlight on them, without making them look excessively be exposed to. According to the analysis, tHe Duke of Edinburgh ranked third with 297 engagements, with the majority of daily public engagements carried out by members of the royal family well into or close to retirement.

A Dutch version of the book had to be hastily pulled from shelves after it revealed the names of the two members of the royal family accused of raising “concerns” about Archie’s skin color.

Sources close to the king, who accuses Scobie along with the Princess of Wales of discussing Archie’s skin colour, have said he is ‘not concerned’ about his name and is instead ‘full of energy’.
