New Delhi: Delhi Airport experienced disruptions in flight operations on Tuesday as dense fog blanketed the region, leading to the delay of around 30 departing flights and cancellation of 17 others. Due to unfavorable weather conditions, there was no view of the airport between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Sunday. Due to the continued delay in flight operations, Indigo Airlines has issued a statement claiming that flight operations were affected by poor visibility and heavy fog across India.

“On January 13, large parts of India experienced exceptionally heavy fog, which had a significant impact on the operations of both airports and airlines. Cancellations and delays had a cascading effect on rotations throughout the day, further impacting operations,” Indigo said in a statement.

“Putting customer safety first, our employees put their best foot forward and worked tirelessly to deal with this situation and serve customers in the best way possible. However, we sincerely regret any inconvenience caused to our IndiGo customers. We are evaluating the lessons learned from days like these to continue improving our services in the future,” the airline said.

As a result, 30 departures were delayed on Tuesday, inconveniencing passengers and causing frustration. In addition, 17 flights were canceled, further aggravating the situation. Airport authorities have advised travelers to check with their respective airlines for updates and urged caution during this period of bad weather.
