Kelsea Ballerini and boyfriend Chase Stokes got matching Virgo tattoos: ‘So we can’t break up!’

Kelsea Ballerini is so in love with her boyfriend of nearly a year – Chase Stokes – that they decided to get matching tattoos three weeks ago.

The 30-year-old country crooner and the 31-year-old Outer Banks actor – whose birthdays are four days apart – got the symbol for their shared astrological sign of Virgo inked somewhere on their bodies.

‘We have matching tattoos, so we can’t break up!’ Kelsea joked on Wednesday’s episode of Call Her Daddy exclusive to Spotify.

‘I used to really resent my Virgo-ness because to me it was very control freak, just needing power in a lot of situations in relationships. And he’s a Virgo too, and he and I have really allowed ourselves to love that part of ourselves and each other – just the need to communicate well and be loyal. And planning is not a bad thing when it’s, like, for the right things — all those things. It’s just like a thing that kind of defines us.’

Ballerini originally met Chase (born James) virtually on December 1 when she slid into his Instagram DMs, and they texted and FaceTimed before their first in-person meeting in Los Angeles on January 7.

The couple’s first date was supposed to be on January 8, but once Stokes discovered the four-time Grammy nominee was in town performing at a private party he insisted she ‘drop her pin.’

‘He hopped out of his Bronco, and he did not say a word to me,’ Kelsea recalled to host Alex Cooper.

‘And he grabbed my face, and he kissed me, and he pulled my face away and he said, “Thank God you’re real.” And I was like, “Oh.”‘

Ballerini gushed about the most romantic thing the Maryland native has done for her thus far – having her Jeep’s windows tinted while she was out of town.

‘He was just, like, “Yeah, you need to be safe. I want you to be safe,”‘ the Tennessee native sighed.

Kelsea went on to call Chase ‘the most emotionally intelligent man I’ve ever met in my life’ thanks to him being raised around a single mother and sister.

‘I keep telling him he’s a man written by a woman,’ Ballerini explained.

‘He’s just so in tune with his emotions and is not afraid to be vulnerable. We both obviously have come off of public breakups and we both didn’t want to waste each other’s time. But we’re both also hopeless romantics.’

The Blindsided singer finalized her divorce from Australian country crooner Morgan Evans one year ago after four years of marriage.

And Stokes ended his 17-month romance with his onscreen leading lady Madelyn Cline in 2021.

‘I think they have a beautiful working relationship, and I’m excited to hang with her. I met her and I talked to her, and she’s lovely. And I think she’s wildly talented,’ Kelsea said.

‘At the end of the day, I’m a girl’s girl. I don’t buy into the [nonsense], especially the loud echo chamber of pop culture trying to make a thing out of nothing. I don’t feel insecure with my relationship, and I don’t feel insecure about myself.’

Speaking of which, production officially restarted on the fourth season of Netflix hit Outer Banks on November 20, so the 6ft1in heartthrob will soon return as Pogues ringleader John B. Routledge.

‘Things will be slowing down in season 4 and you will see a lot more of the Pogues in the future,’ Chase teased during Netflix’s Tudum event on June 17.

‘It’s going to be more like season 1 because it won’t be as hectic as the last two seasons and there will be a lot of reflecting about what happened in [past seasons].’

Meanwhile, Ballerini – who boasts 9.1M social media followers – announced her music video for her single How Do I Do This (off her second EP Rolling Up the Welcome Mat) drops Friday at 7pm CST ‘on the dot.’

The Penthouse belter is next scheduled to serve opening act duties for the All for the Hall benefit concert, headlined by Keith Urban and Vince Gill, happening next Tuesday at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Kelsea will then fly to Los Angeles to compete for the best country album trophy at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, which air February 4 on CBS/Paramount+.

Ballerini – who gets 7.9M monthly listeners on Spotify – faces heavy competition against the Brothers Osborne, Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers, and Lainey Wilson.
