Kelsea Ballerini runs offstage to kiss Chase Stokes: Look

Kelsea Ballerini felt anything but sad while singing one of her recent breakup songs thanks to her boyfriend, Pursue Stokes.

The country star, 29, ran offstage to get the Outdoor benches actor, 30, kissed while performing her song “Penthouse” during a stop in Seattle on her Heartfirst Tour on Saturday, June 24. The track was inspired by her divorce from ex-husband Morgan Evans and appeared on her candid EP Roll up the welcome matwhich she dropped on Valentine’s Day.

In a concert video shared by a fan via TikTok on Sunday 25 June, Ballerini sprinted to the side of the stage during a break in the tune and planted a hug on Stokes before emerging backstage. She pointed to the actor as she sang the lyrics, “I kissed someone new last night.”

The “Peter Pan” singer — who was first seen with Stokes at the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship in LA in January — changed the lyrics to “Penthouse” at a concert last month, calling it the “healed version.” The tune references the Nashville penthouse where she and 38-year-old Evans lived before separating in August 2022 after nearly five years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in November.

Ballerini’s updated version includes a change to the original lyrics: “But now I don’t know where you sleep, dear.” Instead, she sings, “And now I don’t care where you sleep, baby.”

Stokes was just watching his girlfriend’s performance in Seattle from the wings. Last month, however, Ballerini released the Tell me your secrets alum – who previously dated him Outdoor benches Co-star Madelyn Cline – on stage for her last show on Kenny Chesney‘s Go Back Tour.

“It is the second to last city on this tour. Bring it home, John B,” Ballerini joked before taking photos with Chesney, 55, at the May 25 concert. (Her comment was referring to Stokes’ character in the Netflix series.)

Earlier this month, Stokes weighed in on fans calling him a “golden retriever boyfriend,” a term used to describe someone who is charming, loyal and likeable to everyone in a relationship. “I’ll take the job, I’ll take it,” he said Entertainment tonight on June 19, before noting that his dog, Milo, is a golden retriever/German Shepherd mix.

The Maryland native went on to talk about the Grammy nominee, calling her “the best human being on planet Earth” and “so damn talented.” He continued, “Just to see her music and her shine the way she has been lately, it was beautiful.”

Stokes offered another glimpse into their romance via Instagram last month. “It’s Tuesday and the Stanley Cup came to my house. wtf,” de One of us is lying alum captioned a slideshow of photos, including one of him admiring the prized NHL trophy and another of him sniffing Ballerini’s neck.

The “Miss Me More” singer left a cute comment on the May 9 upload, writing, “Find someone who looks at you like Chase is watching the Stanley Cup 😍 ps- you’re cute.”

Evans, for his part, doesn’t seem to be moving forward after the divorce. However, the native Australian wrote the song “Over For You” about the breakup, which he debuted at a concert in September 2022.
