‘Royals warned against careless talk around Harry’: King Charles was ‘cautious’ in conversations with his second son after his bean-spilling memoir Spare… while The Firm was told ‘not to trust him’, claims Omid Scobie in a new book

King Charles was ‘cautious’ when he spoke to Prince Harry after the publication of Spare and relatives were told not to trust him, Omid Scobie claims in his new book.

The Sussexes’ cheerleader describes an alleged conversation between Charles and his son Harry, who apparently had done so called to talk to him about his vitriolic memoir following its release in January.

He says the king was ‘cautious’ and further claimed there was a message going around among family members not to trust Harry with anything and to ignore both the book’s claims and what he said to promote it.

French magazine Paris Match released excerpts from Endgame yesterday alongside an interview with Scobie.

The Journal reports that a source close to Charles’ approach to the conversation says: “He wanted to limit their discussion to an innocent exchange.

‘As for Harry, the message circulating in the family was that we shouldn’t trust him… everyone took it very seriously.’

Harry used Spare to make a series of personal attacks on his family, including claiming that they helped “destroy” his and Meghan’s reputations, forced them to move to California, and “have shown no willingness to reconcile.”

He also accused his older brother of physically assaulting him at Nottingham Cottage in 2019 and “lunging” at him after the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral in 2021.

In Endgame, Scobie says that despite the strained relationship between Charles and the Sussexes, she and Harry still keep him “in the loop” by “sending him pictures of their children.”

But he claims that after Harry and Meghan sent Wales’ three children gifts last Christmas, William and Kate didn’t even respond with a text message.

The author – dubbed ‘Meghan’s mouthpiece’ – repeats previous claims that the Duchess of Sussex ‘never wants to set foot in England again’, ‘never felt at home’ in Britain and ‘never wants to be involved in British society again’ monarchy’ .

Still, he says Harry has said he is “ready to forget the recent problems with his family” and has given up on the “apology or explanation” he previously asked for, quoting the prince: “At this point , who cares, right?’

The claims appeared yesterday in Paris Match magazine to publish Scobie’s second royal tome, Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival.

His first was Finding Freedom, the fanatically pro-Sussex tale of Harry and Meghan’s romance, marriage and decision to bitterly quit as working royals.

The article in Paris Match, ahead of the book’s publication on Tuesday, is a jumble of quotes from it, combined with Scobie’s own views on the state of the royal family and apparently the magazine journalist’s interpretation.

Several new claims are being made, but none are clearly explosive – yet – although Scobie has conducted several pre-publication interviews that will be broadcast in the coming days, and there is no doubt that the Palace will continue its public vendetta with the royal family considers useless. .

Many insiders point out that it’s no surprise that Kate and Meghan haven’t had “direct communication,” as Scobie describes it, for four years, as the Sussexes left for Canada with baby Archie in the fall of 2019 and the Duchess returned to the Great Britain, in short, only four times since then.

Paris Match adds that Kate “immediately discovered a rival of hers” in Meghan, writing: “She talked more about Meghan… than with Meghan,” according to “a close friend of the couple.”

While promoting his tell-all memoir earlier this year, Harry said it quickly became ‘Meghan versus Kate’ after he started dating the American TV actress in 2016.

Harry also repeated claims that Kate made Meghan cry during a row over bridesmaid dresses ahead of the Sussexes’ 2018 wedding.

William, Kate, Harry and Meghan were once dubbed the ‘Fab Four’ of the royal family after initially appearing to have a close bond. But when they reunited for a car journey the day after the Queen’s death in September 2022, there was a ‘palpable’ silence as they traveled the short distance to Windsor’s Long Walk, the book claims.

The magazine goes on to say that the book details the complete breakdown of relations between the brothers, saying: ‘Not even a text at Christmas, although according to Scobie, Meghan and Harry had sent presents to Kate and William’s children.’

Although neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace will comment on the claims, it is unlikely that the book’s publication will do anything to boost hopes that Harry will ever be reconciled with his family.

Last week it was suggested that there had been a thawing of relations after sources close to the prince leaked to selected media that he had a warm chat with his father when he called to wish him a happy 75th birthday.

Scobie insists he is not friends with the Sussexes, nor has he had any direct contact with them through the book, and the Sussexes have denied being “connected” with it.

But there is a certain level of detail that, if true, could only come from sources extremely close to the couple.

This includes claims that Harry texted his estranged brother twice around the Queen’s death and didn’t hear back, and that his father, King Charles, called him from an “unknown number.”

Paris Match also reports that Scobie will say it was Harry’s aunt, Princess Anne, who persuaded Charles to revoke the use of Frogmore Cottage to the Sussexes, prompting the prince to plead: ‘Don’t you want to see your grandchildren anymore? ‘

And Scobie says only Harry’s uncle, Prince Edward, was concerned about the prince’s mental health.

He even accuses the king of being more concerned about the pressure on Prince Andrew in the wake of the Epstein scandal.

The magazine says: ‘Meanwhile the king could not bring himself to hurt his brother. [He] was in tears because he feared for Andrew’s mental health. Charles leads with his head and his heart. Willem is colder. He wants the job done and he hasn’t had any problems with casualties along the way.”

There are obvious howls in the extracts from the book that have been released, including the suggestion that the Prince of Wales is ‘keen to take the throne’.

Friends of William have made it clear that he wants to shield his three young children for as long as possible and has no desire to hasten his progress towards kingship.
