Heartache as Labrador who waited 900 days for forever home is returned to shelter just one day after being adopted
A Labrador who waited more than 900 days to go to his forever home was returned to the shelter just one day after adoption.
Labrador retriever/pit bull mix Sora spent nearly three years at the Valley Animal Shelter in California, but her tail continued to wag excitedly after finally finding her forever home recently.
However, just one day after departure, the adoption was canceled and the poor dog was returned.
The three-year-old’s sad story was posted to TikTok by Valley Animal on February 15 and has since been viewed 1.6 million times, leaving dog lovers around the world ‘heartbroken’.
The shelter shared a video of Sora and another dog, Eros, who was also quickly returned, writing: “Their tails were wagging with hope as they were welcomed into their new home.

A spokesperson for the no-kill shelter said: ‘Sora is a sweet puppy with lots of energy. She fits perfectly into any household with an active lifestyle’
‘After a short time, however, these shelter dogs were back in their kennels.
“They still have hope that somewhere out there is their forever home, where they will be cherished as they deserve.”
The precious pooch has earned an army of fans while receiving dozens of offers from potential puppy parents.
One person wrote: ‘It takes six months for an animal to get used to a new home. This is absolutely heartbreaking.”
Another commented: ‘We are the worst species ever… No puppy deserves this,’ while a third devastated individual wrote: ‘Praying she finds her forever home soon.’
Offers came in from hopefuls eager to begin the application process to adopt Sora, with one writing: ‘Where is this dog, I’ll come and get her, that’s so sad.’
Another person promised, “I swear I’m going, we’ll adopt her where this place is,” while a third said, “To anyone willing to take this precious baby, I will donate towards all travel expenses for her.”

‘Sora is the dog you want to take on long walks or bike rides with; Trust us, she can keep up.”
They added: ‘Although we do our best to provide her with plenty of physical enrichment, it never seems to be enough. If As you can imagine, this has taken a toll on her mental health and caused her to develop anxious behavior.
“According to our certified dog trainer, Mariah Prudhume, if she could get her into a loving home, her mental health would improve dramatically.
“With love and patience, she wouldn’t be the reactive dog she is now, and she would finally become the happy and crazy dog she was meant to be.”
It comes after Britain’s loneliest dog – a Staffordshire bull terrier called Duke – is still awaiting adoption after spending almost 500 days in a shelter.
