Leo crosses Rs 600 crore at the worldwide Box Office

Leo box office global update: Vijay’s Thalapathy Lion it may have been a bit slower at the Box Office, but it has done its bit for the Tamil film industry. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial has become the third Kollywood film to cross the Rs 600 crore mark at the global Box Office. The industry’s newest biggie has amassed this figure in 25 days.

Lion is the third highest-grossing Tamil film of all time, trailing only Prison guard And 2.0. The trading website reports this bagit ranks third with Prison guard earning Rs 604 crore and 2.0 at a staggering Rs 723.30 crore globally. The achievement is enormous for both Vijay and the director making a stylish debut in the Rs 600 crore club. Of this Rs 600 crore, about Rs 203 crore comes from the overseas markets, while about Rs 397 crore comes from the domestic market alone.

Can Leo Top the Jailer at Worldwide Box Office?

Even though the film will soon release on an OTT platform, it will have the ambition to surpass Prison guard‘s Rs 604 crore at the worldwide Box Office first. That would be another huge achievement for the film and all the people associated with it. Interestingly, despite there being no promotions and undubbed versions, Lion has done good business in the Hindi market, where it previously grossed Rs 31.50 crore Tiger 3 hit the screens this year as the big Diwali release.

Lion has set the ball rolling for LCU, the first cinematic universe of its kind in the Tamil film industry. It is only the second film in the universe, after Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and has set the bar high. Have you seen Lion yet?
