Liberal Party power broker Alex Hawke has been caught doing ‘the worst Photoshop job ever’ after crudely pasting himself into a family photo as he fought for his political life.

The former confidant and right-hand man of ex-Prime Minister Scott Morrison now faces a battle to retain his seat in Parliament in a local pre-selection row.

The father-of-four is fighting for survival as the Liberal candidate for his seat of Mitchell in the Sydney Hills region in the city’s northwest.

But in his haste to create a pre-selection booklet to help him in his fight, his attempts to photoshop himself into a happy family photo have made him look like a fool.

The family photo of his wife and children that appears in the booklet also appears on his Facebook page, but without him in it.

Instead, someone has pasted a headshot of Mr. Hawke in a formal suit into the background of the family’s otherwise relaxed group photo.

The photographic failure has been criticized online, with one social media user calling it “one of the worst photoshops we’ve ever seen.”

He said the MP’s campaign reeked of “real election energy for school captains”.

Hawke was the loyal number man for Scott Morrison during the 2018 political coup, replacing Malcolm Turnbull as coalition leader and prime minister.

But despite their close ties over the years, Mr Morrison is nowhere mentioned in Mr Hawke’s pre-selection booklet, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

It is claimed that Hawke’s once close ties to the former prime minister are now working against him in his bid to be re-elected at the next federal election.
