Dungeon experiences in London, Edinburgh and York offer free entry on Coronation Day to visitors who present their copy of Prince Harry’s ‘Spare’ memoir

For the coronation this weekend, the London Dungeon, Edinburgh Dungeon and York Dungeon are getting ‘in the mood of the celebrations’ by offering free entry to guests visiting the attractions and ‘handing over’ their copy of Prince Harry’sReservememoirs.

As the country prepares to give King Charles III the ultimate royal treatment over the holiday weekend, the historic and immersive attractions have announced the “noble gesture” to “spare the new monarch his blush” and, they say, “the nation to purify’. streets of copies of the dubious literature’.

The highly anticipated autobiography sparked quite a bit of controversy when it was published early this year, giving people a colorful account of Harry’s life to date, and a glimpse into life behind the royal curtain.

This limited offer is available to the first 75 guests of each attraction who hand over their well-thumbed pages – “a nod to the time of the king as he ascends the throne.”

The limited-time offer only runs on Saturday, May 6 and is valid for guests who present their copy of Prince Harry’s ‘Spare’ memoir at the box office. All submitted literature will be released after the coronation and distributed to thrift stores.

To mark the coronation this weekend, the London Dungeon, Edinburgh Dungeon and York Dungeon are – in their words – ‘getting into the spirit of the celebrations’ by offering free entry to guests visiting the attractions and their copy of Prince Harry’s Spare’ memoir

A Dungeons spokesperson said: ‘The Royal Family and its colorful history have always been part of our attractions’ stories, so it was important for us to honor His Majesty on the occasion of his coronation. And what better way than by removing all controversial and unwanted literature, keeping the streets fit for our new king!’

The London Dungeon offers 16 ‘terrifying shows’ and ‘two thrilling rides’ that bring to life the ‘deepest and darkest history of the city’, with ‘abundant screaming stories and terrifying shocks for an experience guests will never forget’.

The Edinburgh Dungeon is ‘an award-winning, interactive and immersive 70-minute underground walk that brings thousands of years of Scottish history to life before your very eyes’.

There are live actors, special effects and a ‘thrilling drop ride’, where guests come ‘face to face with notorious characters from Scotland’s dark past’, including the murderous pair of Burke and Hare, local cannibal Sawney Bean and the legendary witch Agnes Finnie.

The York Dungeon, meanwhile, is an interactive and immersive 75-minute walk-through experience.

It reads: ‘Get ready to scream and laugh through 2,000 years of York’s most haunted history. Guests can prepare to come face-to-face with the mighty Vikings and learn all about their Saxon foes before meeting some of York’s most infamous characters, including the (in)famous Guy Fawkes and the local witch Isabella Billington.’
