Lorraine’s Christmas special left the host in hysterics over the suggestive name of a Christmas cocktail.

Lorraine Kelly, 64, prepared a ‘Twinkle’ for each of her guests, a cocktail most commonly consumed on Christmas Day.

The alcoholic drink consists of vodka, elderflower liqueur and champagne (or sparkling wine). On the couch were health editor Hilary Jones, stylist Mark Heyes, entertainment editor Ria Hebden and LA correspondent Ross King.

When all of Lorraine’s guests had received their Twinkles and taken a sip, Lorraine asked, “So, um. What do you think of my Twinkle?’ before bursting into fits of laughter.

“It’s been a while since I’ve seen you sparkle. Or indeed tasted your twinkle.’ Ross, 61, joked. “But I would say it looks delicious, and it tastes delicious too.”

Throughout the interaction, Lorraine had her dog Ruby on her lap, who was wearing a little elf hat with a red pom-pom at the end.

She asked if Ruby could have some Twinkle before choosing to keep it for herself.

After tasting her creation, Lorraine said: ‘That’s brilliant. I love it, so we’re all going for Twinkles?’ Her guests responded affirmatively.

The dazzling host looked incredible in a red velvet dress as she sipped her festive drink.

At one point, she made a series of animated expressions as her pet spun around.

Ruby was also dressed for the occasion in a knitted elf hat and a matching outfit.

It has been a difficult time for Lorraine, who broke down in tears on December 15 as she remembered show producer Hannah Hawkins who died aged 33.

The ITV team member was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 and went into remission the following year. Tragically, two days before she welcomed her son Rory in August this year, she was told her cancer had returned.

During the episode, Lorraine was joined by Hannah’s husband Tom and their son to discuss her legacy and listen to a song dedicated to her memory.

Together they listened to the charity single Golden by the Check and Change choir, made up of breast cancer survivors and starring Joss Stone.

As we headed back to the studio, Lorraine was seen wiping away tears and telling baby Rory: ‘That’s your mum’s song, that’s your mum’s song.’

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am.
