Macca’s brawl: McDonald’s reveals what happened before the wild food fight at Sydney’s Wynyard station

A wild brawl at a downtown McDonald’s allegedly broke out after a teenager sneaked behind the counter to confront staff, Macca bosses have revealed.

Macca staff and the youths threw food and drink at each other at Wynyard Station McDonald’s in central Sydney at 1am on Thursday.

Footage shows a member of staff throwing a milkshake in the teen’s face before he retaliates by throwing chips, soda and other items at him.

But on Tuesday, McDonald’s told Daily Mail Australia that the explosive video only told half the story.

“What is not shown is that the customer is more likely to enter the restaurant and go behind the counter to disrupt the kitchen and threaten the crew,” a company spokesman said.

But the fast-food giant said the workers’ furious response violated company rules and would now be investigated.

“The behavior of our employees in this video is not in line with our policies and we are investigating this with the restaurant,” the spokesperson added.

“The health and safety of our people and customers is our top priority.

Anti-social behavior is not tolerated in our restaurants and we expect our people to be treated with respect at all times.

We will always do our best for our customers, but we will not tolerate abuse, harassment, threats or violence against our employees.

“The police have been called in for assistance and we are supporting the employees involved.”

Two teenagers, aged 17 and 15, have since been arrested for assaulting a 23-year-old McDonald’s employee and were being treated under the Young Offenders Act.

The video shows a young man, wearing gray shorts, a pink hoodie and cap, standing at the counter before a member of staff blinds him by throwing a drink in his face.

He recoils in surprise and slips back on the spilled drink, then returns to the counter and begins launching items at the staff, appearing to break one of their cash register machines.

Screams and laughter can be heard from other customers as the man then shouts ‘p***y’ to the workers.

An employee then launches a well-aimed drink right in his face and the customer retaliates by spraying the huddled staff with chips and drinks waiting behind the counter.

He then backs out of the fast food restaurant and turns to smile at the camera.

The video, originally shared by the Brown Cardigan Instagram page, attracted hundreds of comments, many condemning the customer’s actions.

“Shame on this man!” wrote one.

“Let’s not forget that most of the people who work at Macca’s are teenagers or people on student visas.”

Police confirmed the incident, adding: ‘About 1am on Thursday, police were called to a restaurant in Wynyard following reports of a malicious damage incident.
