Man was allegedly fatally stabbed by a stranger in broad daylight as he walked to the bus stop in Melbourne
A Melbourne man who was allegedly stabbed to death as he walked to a bus stop in broad daylight had just beaten prostate cancer.
Spiros Filidis, 46, was at the intersection of Little Avenue and Widdop Crescent in Hampton East when he was attacked about 12.30pm on Tuesday.
Filidis suffered fatal stab wounds and was found with upper body injuries on the side of the road in the southeast of the city.
Despite the efforts of paramedics who performed CPR, he died at the scene.
Filidis was mentally disabled and had recently defeated prostate cancer.

A 27-year-old Moorabbin man has since been charged with murder and will appear in court on Friday, January 5.
Victoria Police said they do not believe the two men knew each other.
Filidis’ family is struggling to come to terms with the horrific attack that took place in the middle of the day in a traditionally safe area.
“He was full of life… everyone in Southland knew him,” Filidis’ godmother Christine Kounelis told reporters.
