Dual AFL premiership player Marlion Pickett is in trouble with the AFL after making an obscene gesture at Geelong fans at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday night.

Geelong survived a scare against the plucky Tigers at home to record a 30-point win and snap their worst losing streak in 18 years.

Richmond star Pickett, 32, was captured by TV cameras giving Geelong fans the middle finger as they staggered off the pitch during the match.

After Full Time he defended his actions by saying he was abused by the mob.

“As players we pick up a lot of things from the fence line,” he said afterwards.

“Every week there is disrespect [stuff].’

Meanwhile, police have yet to provide critical evidence to Pickett’s attorney after charging him in 2023 over an alleged burglary.

Pickett was arrested in June last year, with police alleging he was involved in a spate of commercial burglaries in Perth over the 2022 Christmas period.

More than $350,000 is said to have been stolen during the burglaries and, among other things, safes at exchange offices were looted.

Pickett is also accused of being part of a scheme to transport the money across the country in an RV.

The case was adjourned by consent for the seventh time at the Perth Magistrates Court last week when Pickett’s lawyer said police had failed to hand over mobile phone triangulation data and banking details.

Magistrate Janelle Scutt granted a stay until June 26.

Pickett’s 30-year-old co-accused Kurtley Thorne pleaded guilty to a series of charges at the Perth Magistrates Court last year.

Pickett has previously spoken about his previous run-ins with the law and time spent in prison in Western Australia, saying it was a wake-up call.

He was released from prison in 2013 at the age of 21 and then started playing for South Fremantle Football Club.

Pickett made his AFL debut during Richmond’s 2019 premiership win, just months after being selected by the Tigers in the mid-season draft.

It made Pickett the first VFL/AFL player in 67 years to debut in a grand final and the first since 1926 to win a flag.

He won a second premiership with the Tigers in 2020.
