She continued, “I remember having a conversation with him about how it was always his dream to be recognized, and not just for Friends.

“He was always aware of the sad reality that Friends got numerous awards…but personally I don’t think he got one.”

Despite his illustrious career in Hollywood after finding fame as Chandler Bing in the NBC sitcom, he was not included in the tribute at BAFTA’s annual awards ceremony.

After rising to fame on the 1990s sitcom alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc, he starred in a host of films, including The Kid with Bruce Willis and Fools Rush In with Salma Hayek and The Whole. Nine Yards and Birds of America.

In 2009, he co-starred with Zac Efron in 17 Again, which would be his final cinematic appearance.

Viewers were furious at the lack of mention, as one fumed: ‘I love the BAFTAs so much. I watch it religiously every year.

A spokesperson later confirmed that Matthew would be remembered for his signature role at the Television Awards in May.

In December, the medical examiner’s report revealed that he died from the “acute effects of ketamine” and from drowning, with similar amounts of ketamine in his body as a hospital patient under general anesthesia.

Kayti has since demanded that police reopen the investigation into his death, amid fears that ‘rogue’ medical staff gave him drugs because she did not believe he had bought ketamine off the street.

The medical examiner reported that Perry had been sober for 19 months and that there was no trace of heroin, cocaine, meth or fentanyl in his system.

Perry had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression. But his last session was a week and a half before he died, meaning it didn’t directly cause his death.

Edwards said she felt the ketamine treatment may have prompted him to use drugs outside of the doctor’s office.
