An alleged road rage driver with a ‘rat’s tail’ hairstyle has had a rude awakening after angrily confronting a terrified motorist on a busy road.

The burly alleged attacker jumped out of his red VW Polo hatchback at a red light before aggressively confronting another Melbourne driver on his phone’s CCTV footage.

The heavyset motorist, wearing a hoodie and sweatpants, opened his door as he slowed in traffic, then gestured wildly as he skipped toward the driver and approached menacingly.

The road rager quickly gave up the idea of yelling at the car behind him

But just as the footage showed him shouting incoherently at the driver through a closed driver’s window, karma seemed to catch up with him.

Two Victorian police officers saw him verbally abuse the driver and her passenger and ran after the angry driver.

The footage – which appeared to be accidentally accompanied by a heavy metal soundtrack on the car radio – then showed the panicked road rager sprinting back to his car at full speed.

The police officers give chase.

Although the angry motorist reached his car before police chased him, the footage suggested his chances of evading officers were slim.

The traffic light was still red when the officers approached him.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Victoria Police for comment.
