Microsoft and Amazon members discover trick to unlock subscriptions
MICROSOFT and Amazon Prime users have shared an interesting strategy to get discounts on their subscriptions.
Subscription services, whatever they are, are extremely convenient for customers.
They provide consistent delivery of products or regular access to services.
Two of the most popular subscription services are Amazon Prime and Microsoft Office.
Subscription costs for any service can add up quickly, which is why some users have found a way to save money.
In a new Reddit post, a user shared that by canceling their accounts, companies will offer them one to two free months of service to reconsider.
“Canceling recurring payments for the Microsoft Office monthly subscription will result in free monthly promotions,” said one user.
“It will potentially save you a fair amount of money,” the Reddit user explains.
They added that this is very typical of other technology subscription platforms such as Adobe and Amazon Prime.
“I subscribed for a single month and canceled the recurring payment, but then they offered me two free months to re-enable it,” the user said.
“I canceled it again and then they offered me another free month to turn it back on,” she added.
“I then canceled it for the third and final time and my membership now only expires in June.”
The Reddit thread received thousands of positive comments, with many users sharing similar experiences.
“Prime does the same thing. I feel like about two months in every time I cancel my subscription I get the .99 for 1-2 weeks offer,” another person shared.
“Then I just use Alexa to remind me of the subscription a day or so before it expires,” she added.
Although the strategy may seem unorthodox, companies are well aware of the technology.
The truth is, most of them are okay with handing out free trials because they know it’s better to attract customers who are already interested in their product or service, per AIContenfy.
By doing this, they don’t have to spend as much on advertising or marketing, meaning the benefits outweigh the costs.
Of course, it’s important to note that not all companies offer these free trials.
