A mom has shown off her body and her tips for self-care routines.
Although she received some criticism for her body, she fought back against body shaming.
Karen (@thisboomermom) shared the uplifting message in a TikTok video.
She explained that at age 50, she put a plan in place that included a change in her diet to up her fitness game.
“I made my retirement plan when I turned 50. I watched my mother commit suicide with alcohol and several family members grow older and suffer from obesity, heart disease and smoking-related illnesses,” she said.
“I have prediabetes and this is how I deal with it.”

At age 59, Karen explained that she would much rather be strong than skinny.
To achieve her goals, she incorporated more protein, heavier weights and less cardio into her routine.
Plus, she’s focused on more sleep, less sugar, less alcohol and real food.
In a videothe mother fought against beauty standards and showed off her body.
“Do you think this 58-year-old belly is gross?” she asked.
She showed off her belly rolls in a crop top and underwear.
“It folds! If you’re over 50, loose skin from human birth isn’t dangerous,” she explained.
“It’s the excess belly fat that will kill you. Eat right and balance your macros. Love your body!”
Other moms used the comments to thank her for spreading the word.
“You’re beautiful. I’m 59 and I feel the same way,” said one commenter.
Karen explained that it was completely normal to have a belly, especially if you’ve had children.
“Because we had children! Perfectly normal! We are human producers! Men can’t do what we can do!” she replied.
