Moment CBS News anchor is left stunned by shocking poll showing how many Americans BACK deporting all illegal migrants

CBS News host Margaret Brennan appeared completely taken aback on her Sunday morning show Face The Nation after a recent poll showed that the majority of Americans support the deportation of all illegal immigrants in the country.

Brennan noted how President Joe Biden deported and repatriated more people in the past year than any year since 2010, noting how such deportations were legally and practically complex.

The CBS News/YouGov poll, conducted June 5-7, found that 62 percent of registered voters supported a government program to deport all illegal immigrants.

“Homeland Security says President Biden has already deported or repatriated more people in the past year than any year since 2010. And then, depending on the details of what’s talked about on the campaign trail, some of what Mr. Trump is talking about could has, could be illegal,” Brennan said.

‘In a way it doesn’t seem practical to pick up children. And then we know that the courts have questioned whether local authorities would be able to do that, and that federal authorities don’t have the resources. So what exactly do people think they are supporting?’

Brennan wondered what people thought they would support, since courts have questioned the feasibility of local authorities carrying out such actions, and federal resources are limited.

The poll also found that a majority of voters supported Biden’s recent executive action on the southern border.

Anthony Salvanto, CBS director of elections and polls, explained that while support for deportation was mainly among Trump supporters, some Democrats also supported the idea.

Salvanto emphasized that public sentiment reflected in polls often reflects broad opinions rather than granular policy details.

‘If you measure public sentiment on this, or on any policy really, you get a sense of direction. You get broad brushstrokes,” Salvanto explained.

He also explained that many voters believe the current system is not working, fueling support for drastic measures.

“A lot of people say yes.” Again, the specifics of that, the specifics, you’re not going to pick that up in the general public,” he said.

‘We are in a different era where many people say the system as a whole is not working. And when you connect the dots, these are all part of the backlash against them, which explains some of the general sentiment for some of these policies,” Salvanto continued.

Brennan admitted that she believed that Americans generally want the government to take decisive action and “do something.”

In contrast, Biden’s recent executive actions at the southern border aim to more effectively manage asylum claims and control border crossings more effectively.

The Biden administration has introduced measures to suspend migrant entry across the southern border once the number of average border contacts in a day reaches 2,500 for seven days in a row.

The idea is to make it easier to remove newly arrived migrants if they have no legal basis to stay in the US
