Terrifying moment monster truck strikes utility pole and sends utility line crashing down onto panicked spectators including wheelchair user and young child

Several people were injured at a monster truck show in Amsterdam Maine after one of the giant trucks toppled a utility pole to the ground on Saturday.

A video taken by an onlooker captured the horrific moment the truck cut the electrical wire, sending the pole crashing to the ground.

The father holds his son and is seen trying to turn his back towards the wire so he can protect the child. But the wire hits the child in the neck, causing his head to snap back.

Fortunately, the boy appears unharmed and the father quickly rushes to safety, holding his son’s head.

According to WMTWThe crash happened around 2pm at the Topsham Fairgrounds, a horse racing track used for a monster truck event.

Two injured people were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for their injuries. Their condition is unclear at this time.

Several other people received medical attention for minor injuries.

After the incident, the power in the area was quickly turned off to prevent further injuries.

While the power was off, crews were able to approach and assist those injured in the incident.

The power was not turned back on until 4:30 PM. The driver emerged from the accident uninjured.

Topsham authorities said they are continuing to investigate the incident.
