A mother has come up with a clever ‘parenting hack’ to ensure her child’s safety during a school trip.

Naturally, parents may experience an increased sense of nervousness when their child is in public without them. However, Florida’s Shaylin Martin has come up with a clever hack to prevent just that.

Via TikTok, the mother revealed how she managed to track her child’s location throughout the day using an Apple AirTag.

In the videoShaylin hid the device safely in her child’s ponytail, meaning it was always close to her daughter, who is unlikely to lose it.

For Shaylin, the AirTag gave her “peace of mind.” Now, social media users have taken to the comments section to share their thoughts, and while many think it’s a ‘great’ idea, others have noticed a generational shift.

AirTags are an easy way to keep track of your belongings. Commonly associated with keys and handbags, the device makes an item trackable through Apple’s Find My app.

But Shaylin innovated the use of the AirTag and implemented it on her young child instead.

The mother showed viewers a step-by-step guide on how she disguised the device in her daughter’s hair, alongside the caption: “When your baby goes on their first field trip.”

First, she grabbed the Apple device, which was in a band, and tied it around her daughter’s ponytail like a bobble.

Then, Shaylin wrapped her daughter’s hair around the ponytail to form a bun, which effectively covered any evidence of the device.

To complete the look, Shaylin added a blue bow to her daughter’s hair.

She wrote in the caption, “Parent Hack! I was able to follow my baby to and from her field trip today and it gave me so much peace of mind!’

The clip has since been viewed more than 18 million times, with social media users rating the creative idea highly.

The mother placed the AirTag around her daughter's ponytail and wrapped the remaining hair around it into a bun, which essentially covered any evidence of the device.
