‘She’ll definitely be sassy!’ Mother, 20, left in hysterics after her unborn baby daughter ‘gave her the finger’ during a 3D imaging ultrasound scan

A British mother became hysterical after realizing her unborn child appeared to be cursing at her during a 3D ultrasound scan.

Maddy Lundstram, 20, had a private scan at 25 weeks using the 3D imaging that gives a clearer view of the fetus – but she was left reeling when her daughter raised her two middle fingers in what appeared to be a curse mark.

While some may have been offended by the sign, Maddy breathed a sigh of relief as it meant all was well with her daughter after a rocky start to her pregnancy.

The stay-at-home mum from Conwy, Wales, said: ‘She wasn’t looking at the camera. Within a few seconds she raised her fingers. She wanted to leave.’

Maddy, who is already mother to her one-year-old son Liam, first found out she was pregnant with her second child in January, but unfortunately started experiencing bleeding just eight weeks later.

To Maddy’s horror, doctors told her she had a bleeding cyst that could be fatal to the baby.

The terrified mum said: ‘I was paranoid anything I did could result in me losing the baby.

Maddy spent the next few weeks on eggshells before having a reassuring scan that told her everything looked normal.

However, to her dismay, she found herself bleeding again at 15 weeks and was rushed for another scan.

The scan found a number of tumors on Maddy’s service which were immediately sent for a biopsy due to a family history of cervical cancer.

Because Maddy’s own mother, Katie Lundstram, 40, had previously battled cervical cancer, doctors wanted to be absolutely certain her young daughter did not follow the same trajectory.

After bleeding at nine weeks, Maddy had a scan that revealed tumors on the young mother's cervix. These were immediately sent for biopsy due to a family history of cervical cancer.

Fortunately, the biopsy results found no cell changes or signs of cancer and at a 20-week scan, Maddy was also told her baby was doing well.

However, the 20-year-old was still unable to relax despite the positive scan. “They said she was small and that was on my mind,” the concerned mother explained.

To reassure her, Maddy decided to go for a private 25-week scan, during which she discovered her baby girl holding up two fingers.

Katie, Maddy’s other and grandmother to her future daughter and one-year-old Liam, also helps care for her daughter’s baby. She joked: ‘It was like she was saying, ‘I’m fine, go away.’

“She’ll definitely be sassy,” Katie teased, reminiscing about her own daughter’s sassy personality when she was little.

‘When Maddy was growing up, she was a bit scared!’ the grandmother joked.

Katie, who is clearly over the moon with pride, described her granddaughter as a ‘beautiful young lady’.

“She is amazing and a brilliant mother,” she added. The mother is currently 26 weeks pregnant and will give birth later this year in September.
