Naomi Watts and husband Billy Crudup wear wedding bands in NYC after secretly getting ‘hitched’

Naomi Watts and husband Billy Crudup looked every inch the beaming newlyweds as they stepped out in New York City, one day after tying the knot during an intimate courthouse ceremony.

Following her walk down the aisle in a $7,400 white Oscar de la Renta gown, the 54-year-old Oscar nominee smiled, alongside her longtime love, as she toted a large red purse and shopping bag from The Greenwich Hotel.

For the laid-back occasion, she rocked a semi-sheer, lace jacket, complete with billowy sleeves, light-wash denim bottoms and a pair of beige Dior sandals.

Both she and spouse, who currently stars in The Morning Show, were wearing their wedding bands, less than 24 hours after she confirmed they got ‘hitched’ to her 1.7 million Instagram followers. 

Crudup, 54, cut a casual figure in a fitted blue  t-shirt, grey baseball cap, jeans and sneakers with white stripes on the sides.

Watts appeared smitten as she looked down at her phone, before preparing to load  her luggage into the back of a black SUV.

Their sighting comes after the British-Australian star shared a number of stunning wedding photos of herself posing with a white bouquet, which she revealed were purchased from a local deli.

The couple’s celebrity friends were quick to congratulate them on the happy occasion.

‘Yipeeeeeee!!!! Sending so much love,’ Gwyneth Paltrow commented on Naomi’s post, while Miranda Kerr added: ‘Congratulations!’

Naomi’s ex-boyfriend Liev Schreiber, 55, who she previously dated for 11 years, also extended his well wishes by commenting: ‘Congratulations!!! Gorgeous!!!’

The famously secretive couple previously sparked marriage rumors after they were spotted in wedding attire in photos obtained by Page Six on Friday.

Naomi first sparked rumors that she and Billy had gotten engaged earlier this year, when she debuted an enormous diamond with a tasteful marquise cut, along with a diamond-encrusted band.

The star however refused to confirm the engagement chatter, even after American Today show host Hoda Kotb directly referenced it during a late April appearance on the morning talk show.

Toward the end of Naomi’s segment, Hoda joked that he ‘eye was hurting’ from the ‘big glint coming from some ring over here.’

‘It just struck me, but it’s beautiful,’ she added.

Lest there be any doubt about her implied question, Hoda’s co-host Savannah Guthrie added: ‘Hoda is asking if you’re engaged.’

But Naomi simply replied, ‘So, the brain fog…’

Savannah went on to compliment the ring’s design, but Naomi avoided saying more about her ring, while also not outright denying that she had gotten engaged to Billy.

So far, the Morning Show star has also avoided discussing the potential engagement.

The King Kong star appeared to have worn the ring at least as early as March, and she was spotted displaying the sparkler on the red carpet at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Beverly Hills.

Naomi and Billy met on the set of her 2017 Netflix series Gypsy, in which she starred as a therapist who uses an alias to develop close (and unethical) relationships with people intimately connected to her patients, while Crudup played her husband.

The costars began a relationship later in 2017, a year after Naomi had split from her partner of 11 years, the actor Liev Schreiber.

The friendly exes share two children: Kai, 14, and Sasha, 15.

Billy is father to son William Atticus Parker, 19, who he shares with ex Mary Louise Parker.

He caused a huge scandal in 2003 after ditching Parker while she was seven months pregnant with Atticus, then beginning a relationship with actress Clare Danes.

The pair split around two years later, amid rumors Billy had been ditched by Clare for another co-star, British actor Hugh Dancy.

Clare and Hugh wed in 2009, and remain married.

Since they began dating, Naomi and Billy have kept their public appearances to a minimum and have largely avoided commenting on their relationship, though Naomi has occasionally shared sweet photos of herself with her boyfriend on social media.

During a past interview with PorterEdit in 2019, The Impossible actress opened up about their blended families and co-parenting together. ‘We’re doing things very differently.’

‘I’m pretty proud of us, corny as that may sound. We’ve made it our absolute priority to be good and kind to each other and we’re absolutely committed to that.’

Liev announced earlier this year that he’s expecting his first child with model girlfriend Taylor Neisen.

Billy was long infamous for the terrible timing when he ended his multi-year relationship with Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker.

He separated from the actress, who he began dating in 1996, in November of 2003, when she was seven months pregnant with their son.

He subsequently began a relationship with Claire Danes that ended in 2006.
