Nicki Minaj SLAMMED for saying Megan Thee Stallion was trying to have her ‘Rihanna moment’ referencing Chris Brown assault by discussing Tory Lanez shooting on TV

Nicki Minaj has been slammed for saying rival Megan Thee Stallion was trying to have her ‘Rihanna moment’ by discussing Tory Lanez shooting her during a 2022 TV interview.

Megan, 28, who reignited her feud with Nicki, 41, courtesy of new diss track Hiss, detailed how Lanez had shot her in the foot during a CBS interview with Gayle King. The attack took place during a drunken argument after a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s house in 2020 and Lanez currently serving 10 years in prison.

Rihanna famously appeared on ABC News in 2009 in which she broke down in tears while discussing Brown’s physical assault on her after Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party in February.

Nicki joined podcast host Joe Budden on Spaces on Wednesday, with the rapper accusing Megan of garnering sympathy via feuding with her to reignite her career.

She said: ‘It’s so obvious. She wanted a Rihanna moment so bad’ before adding ‘You gon google.’

‘Rihanna never would milk. You could tell she couldn’t wait to try to move on with her life. And then people even bashed her for not milking it.

‘Rihanna knows she was a superstar with or without controversy. She’s loved, with or without controversy, sympathy.’

Fans quickly took to social media to slate Nicki , with one writing: ‘Everyday I start losing more and more respect for Nicki Minaj. like beefing with Megan Thee Stallion for no clear reason is one thing but this is just gone way too far to mock her trauma online. like this is not normal behavior.

Another typed: ‘The fact that the only thing nicki can come for is megan’s trauma and her height? goes to show who the real rap queen is!! lmao nicki minaj so corny she need to go find some business and take care of her family.’

A third typed: ‘Nicki Minaj weaponizes Rihanna’s DV against Megan Thee Stallion. Saying Meg wanted a ‘Rihanna moment’ and following with this…’

Another wrote: ‘you are actually going to hell Nicki Minaj. this is actually insane and incredibly insensitive to compare Megan Thee Stallion getting shot to claiming “she wanted to have a Rihanna moment”. domestic violence is never funny to bring up or even compare.’

One fan penned: ‘Nicki Minaj, a woman who has allegedly experienced and spoken out about abuse, has now criticized Megan Thee Stallion—a Black woman—for also enduring abuse. 

‘She even compared the trauma of Rihanna and Megan to make a point. It’s ironic how we’re expected to empathize with Nicki’s experiences, but when it’s about other women, it’s labeled as seeking ‘sympathy points.’ Her actions are really unhinged and disgusting, and she seriously needs an intervention.

Rapper Latto sent support to Megan in the wake of her feud, writing in a comment on an Instagram post: ‘U making us proud Meg’ – with the star responding with hearts,

This comes after Megan was slammed for bringing up ‘Megan’s Law’ in her new diss track, which ignited her recent feud with Nicki.

Richard Kanka, who championed the sex-offender notification law named after his late daughter Megan Kanka, who was murdered in 1994, called the lyric ‘disrespectful’ as per TMZ. 

In her new song ‘Hiss’, the rapper appears to take aim at Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, 45, who is a registered sex offender in New York. 

‘These h**s don’t be mad at Megan,’ she rapped, referring to herself, before adding, ‘These h**s mad at Megan’s Law.’  

Though many defended the lyric by pointing out that it brings awareness to the law, Kanka nonetheless finds his late daughter’s name being brought up in the expletive-filled song offensive, and is considering legal action.

Kanka told TMZ the use of his daughter’s name was ‘highly offensive to the pain his daughter and family felt.’

He admitted that he has not heard the song yet, but has read the lyrics, and does not approve. Kanka also shared he found out about the song from one of his kids.

His daughter Megan was 7 years old when she was raped and killed in July 1994. It was the Kankas’ neighbor and convicted sex offender Jesse Timmendequas who committed the crimes. His two roommates were also convicted sex offenders.

Richard and his wife Maureen, who were unaware that three sex offenders lived across from them, helped champion Megan’s Law into action in 1996.

Megan’s Law mandates the ‘public disclosure of information about registered sex offenders when required to protect the public.’ 

The information is provided so that members of communities can better protect themselves and their children. 

Megan’s lyrics were perceived by Nicki’s fans as a diss toward her husband, who is a registered sex offender. He was convicted of the attempted rape of a 16-year-old in 1994. He spent four years in prison.

He was sentenced to three years probation and one year of home detention in July 2022 after he failed to register as a sex offender in California.

The lyric may have also been aimed at Nicki’s brother, Jelani Maraj, who was convicted in 2017 of predatory sexual assault for the rape of his 11-year-old stepdaughter.

He was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in January 2020, after a 2018 appeal failed. 

In retaliation, Nicki went on Instagram Live and demanded Megan to ‘conjure up her mother and apologize.’ Megan’s mother, Holly Thomas, passed away in March 2019 from brain cancer.

Minaj also responded to the perceived slight with her own diss track over the weekend, titled Big Foot – a song packed with digs, including one reference to Megan’s alleged cosmetic surgery. 

According to a source she is ready to prey on all of Megan’s weaknesses and is ready to ‘drown’ her with further blows, having already taken serious aim at her rival on her latest single.

But while Megan has yet to respond, a source close to Nicki has claimed this is just the beginning of their public spat, with the Anaconda rapper prepared to ‘drown’ her fellow artist with more punches.

‘I know that Nicki seems to be in the wrong right now because she went there, but she is unapologetic, and we are only seeing what they let the public see,’ a source told DailyMail.com exclusively. ‘Behind the scenes it is even worse.’

They continued: ‘Megan has formed an alliance with Cardi B to talk s**t about Nicki, but Nicki has been in the game much longer than both of them.

‘Nicki told Megan she needs to sit down and respect those who set the path for her. Megan came for Nicki’s husband and brother and in the worst way. So, Nicki responded by taking it a level higher.’

The source added that it’s likely this is only the beginning of their fallout, and that Nicki is prepared to take their spat even further.

They continued: ‘If Megan wants to keep this going, it is going to get extremely ugly – more so than it already is. Nicki knows her weaknesses and will play on all of them. If Megan thinks that Nicki’s beef with Cardi is bad it is a drop in the pool that she is about to drown Megan in.’

Nicki doesn’t hold back in her track Big Foot, which was released on Sunday night.

In the song, she hits out at Megan – real name Megan Pete – and asks, ‘Um, why did you lie about your lipo?’ before adding: ‘F**kin’ your best friend man is crazy, you the type, though.’

Nicki, who previously collaborated with Megan on the 2019 song Hot Girl Summer, also appeared to reference the time Megan was shot in the foot by Tory Lanez in July 2020.

Rapper Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, was sentenced to 10 years in jail in August 2023.
