NINJA has announced the release of a brand new cooking gadget and says it's the first of its kind.

The home appliance company is launching the industry's first vertical dual-basket air fryer.

Ninja's new air fryer will hit shelves later this year

The gadget, called the Ninja DoubleStack XL 2-Basket Air Fryer, delivers double the performance of a single-basket air fryer.

But it also takes up 40% less space than a typical dueling basket device.

Reacting to the news on Facebook, one Ninja fan said, “I can finally get one that fits in my kitchen.”

Another said: “We'll have to upgrade ours as soon as it's released.”

“This is exactly what we need,” said a third customer.

The device measures only 30 cm in diameter and reinvents what a traditional air fryer with two baskets looks like.

Instead of two drawers next to each other, they are stacked on top of each other, leaving you with more counter space in your kitchen.

The drawers have a ceramic non-stick coating and there are six different cooking modes to choose from: Air Fry, Max Crisp, Roast, Bake, Reheat and Dehydrate.

The Ninja DoubleStack air fryer will be available in two different sizes – 7.6 liters or 9.5 liters – when it hits shelves later this year.

Unfortunately, Shark Ninja has not yet revealed how much the device will cost when it goes on sale in the UK.

However, the manufacturer's suggested retail price for the product in the US is said to be $229.99.

Commenting on the new product line, Shark Ninja CEO Mark Barrocas said: “Shark Ninja's track record of launching breakthrough innovations and rapidly gaining market share across categories is the result of its boundless curiosity and relentless drive from our employees to solve consumer problems.

“Our latest innovations deliver the high-tech features, industry-leading performance, quality and exceptional value that Shark and Ninja products are known for, positively impacting people's lives every day, inside and outside their homes, around the world .”

Ninja is also releasing a host of other new gadgets as part of its new year product launch, including a new cooler and multi-cooker.

What is an air fryer?

An air fryer is similar to a mini oven that can handle almost everything you would put in a conventional oven or deep fryer.

They have a fan above a heating element that quickly circulates the warm air throughout the cooking chamber.

But because it only heats a small space, it heats up faster than a conventional oven and stays hot longer, so you use less energy.

Food is usually stored in an air fryer basket, which has vents that allow the hot air to pass through and cook your food evenly.

Air fryers are best for things you want to make crispy.

But depending on the model, you can also bake, roast and even dry ingredients.

How much do they cost to use?

Using an air fryer instead of a conventional oven is a much cheaper way to cook.

A two-kilowatt oven costs about 29 cents to run for half an hour, or 58 cents for an hour of use.

But you can run a 1000W air fryer for an hour for 29 cents less.

And your own 3.5kW one costs around 51p for half an hour and £1.02 for an hour.

This again makes an air fryer the cheapest option.
