NINTENDO's latest console, set to launch in 2024, is rumored to be delayed until early 2025, upsetting fans around the world.

Several sources have reported that Nintendo's decision to delay the launch date is to ensure that the Switch 2 includes as many titles as possible upon release, according to Eurogamer.

The popular game console would be released later this year, seven years after the first Switch was released.

The move to the other side of Christmas, in early 2025, gives the company more time to improve the console while maintaining the “financial benefits of the Switch 2 launch within Nintendo's upcoming financial calendar.”

Nintendo has only a handful of games planned for the existing Switch in 2024.

It has been reported that two development sources working on Switch 2 games are behind a Q1 2025 launch, according to VGC.

Last year, Nintendo demonstrated the Switch 2's hardware capabilities to developers at Gamescom, with partners showing off tech demos of how well the system is designed to work.

In an email published online last year, Activision Blizzard boss Bobby Kotick discussed the Switch 2's ability to run Call of Duty, which would be a groundbreaking addition to the console's arsenal of games.

However, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa called these reports just “rumors.”

Nintendo and gaming fans alike were devastated by the news that they would have to wait another year for the release of the Switch 2.

People expressed their disappointment via X, formerly known as Twitter.

One user wrote: “Right now I think the Wii Phone will come out before Switch 2.”

However, a few pointed out that it is better to wait for the gaming company to add more games and improve the user experience.

“So you wanted a rushed product?” one person commented.

They added: “I think this is better for everyone.”

Another said: “Better to wait for a great product.

“Then to release a Sonic 06.”

It comes after Switch fans couldn't believe the incredible deal for a game with an 88 rating that sold for pennies.
