Fire at BMC pumping station, NO water supply in these areas

As mentioned earlier, a fire broke out at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Pise pumping station on Monday evening, disrupting water supply in several parts of Mumbai. A civic official, according to an NDTV report, said that due to the fire, water supply in the eastern suburbs and from Golaji, Fosbery, Raoli and Bhandarwada reservoirs has been adversely affected. There will be no water supply in these areas for the next 24 hours.

Water supply affected for two weeks

Apart from the above-mentioned areas where there will be no water supply for the next 24 hours, a ten percent water cut was earlier announced in Mumbai by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the rehabilitation of the Pali Hill Reservoir. The civic body has said that water supply will be reduced due to works to strengthen and rehabilitate the old 600mm Pali Hill Reservoir mainline, which is located under the H/West Ward. The bulletin issued by the BMC read: “Regular water supply to H/West Ward will resume after March 11 (Monday). The BMC government earnestly requests residents to cooperate and use water wisely during this period.” The water supply has been interrupted from today, February 27 to March 11.

Water supply in Mumbai from today: affected areas

The areas that will be affected by this two-week water cut in Mumbai, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), are various parts of the H/ward, including Dandapada, Khar West, Gazdharband, Kantwadi, Sherli Rajan, Dilip Kumar Zone, Zig Saw Road Zone, parts of Bandra West, Kol Dongri Zone, Union Park Zone and the Pali Mala Zone.
