Bangalore: Despite comfortably winning the match against the Netherlands at the Chinnaswamy on Sunday, it was not one of the best nights for India as a fielding unit as there were a number of setbacks that could have been avoided. And therefore, that made the special medal for best fielder in the dressing room more valuable on the night in Bengaluru. There was a new winner and it was Suryakumar Yadav who won the special medal. There was a unique way the name was announced. The groundskeepers held up signs with the name. Here is the moment shared by the BCCI.

India maintained their unbeaten run in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup with a 160-run win over Netherlands at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. India posted a mammoth 410/4 first, powered by hundreds from KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer and fifties from Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. In reply, the Netherlands were bowled out for 250 in 47.5 overs.

Kohli and Rohit got one wicket each, their firsts in the World Cup, while Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah also got two wickets each. India will next play New Zealand in the semi-final on November 15.

“I had a deja vu, this happened with Australia too, but I threw away my wicket (not today mind you), but I didn’t want to come out this time. I took pills for the cramps. I feel the recent scores have helped me in this innings. The wicket was bland and of two paces, I just wanted to take advantage of the start and I did. I worked a lot on that (straight) shot, just trying to hit it straight. It’s about keeping the head straight and following the bat once I try to play the slog shot,” said Shreyas Iyer after bagging the player of the match award.
