Novak Djokovic’s on court rant watched by wife Jelena is ‘decoded’ by internet sleuths who think he declared ‘I could kill right now’ as he exploded in anger before she urged him on

Novak Djokovic’s on-court tirade, watched by his wife Jelena, has been ‘decoded’ by internet sleuths who claim he declared ‘I could kill right now’ before being egged on by his wife Jelena.

The Serbian great exploded with anger during his five-set thriller with Francisco Cerundulo in the fourth round of the French Open earlier today.

A Serbian speaker told MailOnline that Novak said: ‘I could kill now’, before his wife Jelena supportively urged him to ‘come on’.

In Serbia, a statement that they are so angry that they could kill is meant very funny and not taken literally.

Despite his epic victory, Djokovic has since withdrawn from Wednesday’s quarter-final against Casper Ruud due to a knee injury.

Djokovic was taken to five sets again as his up-and-down French Open campaign continued, having gone the distance with Lorenzo Musetti in a match that ended after 3am on Sunday morning.

Djokovic entered the competition as the reigning champion but had failed to consistently display the form he has shown during his dazzling career at this year’s French Open.

On Monday, with his title defense on the line again, Djokovic suffered a break at 2-0 in the deciding fifth set, but after conceding a point for 30-30 he was visibly indignant.

He then walked back to pick up more balls to begin his next serve before turning to his family in the box on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

The cameras captured the tense exchange between Djokovic and his wife Jelena, as he angrily gestured with his hands and shouted at his team.

You then see his wife Jelena standing upright in the box in the stands and responding to her husband in the same way.

After a few seconds, the exchange was over and Djokovic returned to what he did best: snatching victories from the jaws of defeat.

He eventually sealed his spot in the quarter-finals with a 6-3 victory in the fifth, making the score 6-1, 5-7, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, before withdrawing from the tournament on Tuesday .

Jelena Djokovic, 37, calls herself a “curious soul” and founder of the Novak Djokovic Foundation.

The charity, which she runs with her husband, aims to help children reach their full potential by investing in early childhood development, particularly early childhood education.

Born in Belgrade, Serbia, Jelena left her home country to study abroad when she was 18. She moved to Italy and then to Morocco, where she has lived for the past 12 years.

The couple started dating in 2005 before getting engaged in 2013. Together they have two children, a son Steven Djokovic and daughter Tara Djokovic.

But their marriage has been plagued by cheating rumors for the past decade.

In 2019, the couple was dogged by rumors after Jelena failed to attend any of his matches at Wimbledon, it was reported in The Sun.

The couple insisted this was due to their daughter being too young to attend, but their fifth wedding anniversary also went unnoticed.

In July 2017, comments were made by tennis expert John McEnroe who concluded that Djokovic’s poor form was due to family problems and compared this decline to Tiger Woods splitting from his wife after it was revealed he had cheated on her with 120 women.

According to The Sun, McEnroe said: ‘Woods had problems with his wife and after that he seemed to have gone completely off the rails and has never even been close to the same player.’

Novak was surprised by the comments but said: “He has the right to say the things he wants to say. I don’t necessarily have to agree with it. But it is his right’.

Djokovic has also fueled rumors due to his friendships with other women, including Serbian pop star Natasa Bekvalac and his ex-girlfriend DJ Lady Lee. Although they both shut down the suggestions about something unpleasant going on.

It is this philanthropic work that Jelena considers one of the “most important” things she and her athlete husband have done.

Jelena is a strong advocate for children and spoke at the International Conference on Child Safety last October.

Djokovic would face Ruud of Norway, who has played four sets in his last two matches, after another five setters against Alejandro Davidovich Fokana.

By securing his spot in Wednesday’s round of 16, Djokovic also earned another record to add to his bulging list of incredible achievements.

He achieved his 370th Grand Slam victory on Monday, surpassing Roger Federer’s 369, which tied him against Musetti, and taking the record straight away.

Hampered by a right knee injury, furious at the state of the court, trailing by two sets to one and facing a break, the 37-year-old survived by the almost supernatural force of his will.

At four hours and 39 minutes, it was Djokovic’s longest ever match at the French Open, but it was not without its toll on his body.

He revealed he will undergo tests on his knee on Tuesday and had considered withdrawing from the match.

“For the last few weeks I have had a slight discomfort in the right knee,” he revealed after another incredible win.

‘But I played with it and until today there were no problems. Of course, the late finish a few nights ago didn’t help.

‘In the third game of the second set I slipped, one of the many times I slipped and fell today. That had consequences for the knee.

‘At one point I honestly didn’t know whether I should continue. I was given medication and after the third set I asked for more.

“That was the maximum dose that took effect after 30 to 45 minutes, which was about the end of the fourth when things really started to improve.

‘In fact, the entire fifth set went almost without pain. But the effect of the medication will not last too long. After the match we did some tests together with the doctor. There is positive news, but also concerns, so let’s take a look tomorrow.’
