Before he made it big and topped the charts, Rodrigo was romantically linked to her Disney Channel costar. The pair started out as friends when they met on the set of their show, Bizarre Aardvark, which premiered in 2016. Two years later, their band grew into something more. In January 2019, Rodrigo and Wacker announced in a now-deleted Instagram post that they had been dating for six months.

Later that year, the pair appeared to part ways after deleting pictures of each other from their respective social media pages. Despite the split, they remain good friends. When Wacker left for college in 2020, Rodrigo shared her well wishes for her ex through her Instagram story.

In early 2021, Rogrido released her hit “Drivers License” – and Wacker stopped the rumors that the song was about him. The actor countered the claims in a now-deleted TikTok theory video by commenting, “I treated her right.”

Six months later, Bassett said the outlet he and Rodrigo had not spoken since “Drivers License” dropped earlier that year and unfollowed her on Instagram the following month.
