Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has also previously spoken about how his pet Chow Chow has helped him through tough times.

He told Sky News: ‘I have a Chow Chow. He is two years old. He sleeps in the house, that’s it. He sleeps three quarters of the day.

‘Yes, he runs the house when I’m not there. Taking liberties with my wife. Takes her out for a walk.

“And then he sits down halfway through the walk and refuses to move. For me he’s a lot better, but he just knows who’s in charge.

“When you have this creature, this animal when you walk through the door with a big tongue sticking out of its mouth and tails wagging.

‘They don’t care, they just want to see their owner and you know he came running to us yesterday, we had a quick cuddle.

‘It helps so much. We have a small group at football. So me, Rob Holding, and Kieran Tierney did a few dog walks which is great.

‘Hardly talk about football when we take these long walks. But even when I’m alone, if it’s a street walk, or a park, or a field, you don’t think much about it – you’re just outside. the opened one.’

While Southgate may be in charge on the sidelines, he revealed in an interview how his Labrador and cockapoo are in charge at home.
