Anyone who has made a purchase through the PlayStation Store, whether full games, DLC, microtransactions or subscriptions between August 19, 2016, And August 19, 2022could be eligible for benefits.

The lawsuit against PlayStation is based on the 30% commission that the company charges for all purchases from the PlayStation Store.

This high price percentage would ‘rip off’ customers, developers and publishers, says consumer rights activist Alex Neill. Sky News.

A new class action injunction has been issued for the case, meaning the lawsuit will continue.

PlayStation isn’t the only gaming company to take in this huge percentage of commission.

Nintendo, Xbox, Steam, and mobile platforms like Google Play and the App Store all add a large commission on games to their prices.

However, PlayStation has been singled out in this case, and if PlayStation users are eligible for compensation, it could lead to lawsuits against other platforms.

It would even allow similar lawsuits to be filed by residents of other countries.

Video game prices have risen dramatically over the years, and these large commissions collected by storefronts only further increase costs for gamers.

It is unclear whether PlayStation will have to pay compensation to players in this case, but the company has had to pay out to players in the past.

In 2014, Sony was forced to pay PlayStation Vita owners damages after the company falsely advertised that the Vita could connect to the PS3 for remote play.

Vita players were offered a cash payout, store credit or a game bundle in compensation.
