New Delhi: In an unqualified attack on the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, while addressing a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh, called Rahul Gandhi ‘moorkhon ke sardar’ (the leader of stupid people) over his comment that mobile phones in India were largely ‘made in China’.

“A mahagyani (very wise man) from Congress said yesterday that Indians have made mobile only in China. In which world does the ‘moorkhon ke sardar’ live?” Modi said. “I wonder what foreign glasses they wear so that they cannot see the country’s achievements,” he said, without naming Gandhi directly.

Prime Minister Modi said that India is the second largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world.

“When the Congress was in power, India’s mobile phone production was less than Rs 20,000 crore. Today, the Indian industry has grown to over Rs 3.5 lakh crore. India also exports mobile phones worth Rs 1 lakh crore,” PM Modi said.

Prime Minister Modi said the Center will launch a scheme worth Rs 24,000 crore for the welfare of tribals in the country on Wednesday as the country celebrates the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

Prime Minister Modi said he has seen unprecedented trust and affection for the BJP among the people of Madhya Pradesh, adding that the Congress has accepted defeat ahead of the elections.
He said the Congress has accepted defeat and is now turning to seers to revive its fortunes in the final phase of the election campaign.

The Congress knows its false promises will not work when combined with Modi’s assurances, the Prime Minister said. “As November 17 (Election Day) approaches, Congress’ claims are coming to light. Congress has accepted defeat and now they are banking on luck, Modi said.

The Congress has never believed that the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the anti-triple talaq law and the construction of the Ram Temple will ever become a reality, but “we have done all these things,” PM Modi said.

Modi said some Congress leaders are sitting at home and do not feel like going out.
“Congressional leaders don’t know what they will say to the people. The Congress has accepted that their false promises don’t stand a chance if Modi provides the guarantee,” he said.
