There were a number of Pokémon-themed Van Gogh artworks, such as Sunflower in Sunflowers and Pikachu replacing Van Gogh in Self-Portrait with Gray Felt Hat.

However, chaos ensued when the exhibition opened at the museum in Amsterdam, as fans rushed to the store to buy items.

Videos soon emerged of customers pushing and crushing others to get their hands on the limited-edition items.

Much of the merchandise was quickly spotted online as scalpers tried to sell them at very high prices.

It turns out that not only the customers behaved badly at the opening, but also the staff.

The Van Gogh Museum confirmed to the press that four people have been suspended because of the collaboration, which lasted from September to January.

A spokesperson confirmed that employees will no longer return to the museum.

One of the employees reportedly worked at the museum for more than 25 years, but was fired due to misconduct.

There were a number of reasons for the employee suspensions, including alerting people when event tickets would go on sale.

The exact timing was not publicly disclosed to discourage people from using bots to purchase large quantities of tickets for resale.

Another employee reportedly tried to embezzle a box of limited edition Pokémon cards.

These cards sell for around £100 on sites like eBay as they were only available at the museum.
