I only get half a £200,000 National Postcode Lottery win for my neighbor’s blunder

The jackpot winner of a PEOPLE Postcode lottery will take home just half of the £200,000 because of his neighbour’s foolish blunder.

Widow Sadie Docherty, 86, was thrilled when she found out she had won thousands of dollars this week from her home in Baillieston, Glasgow.

But it soon dawned on her that she would actually only get half of her winnings.

Because her daughter Sharon, 53, who lives in the flat below her, never signed up.

She said: “I share half with my daughter and take care of the rest for the family.”

Sharon called Sadie “the best little mom ever,” adding, “I’ll be over the moon if my mom wins.” I can’t thank her enough.’

HAPPY TO SHARE

Mum-of-three Sadie, who has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, said she is happy to be able to help Sharon – and the rest of her family.

She said: “I’m happy to share it with my daughter. I never thought I would win. I’ve never had so much money in my life. I’ve never had half as much.

“I’m too old to do anything for myself anymore, so I mainly help my family.”

I won a £145,000 postcode lottery jackpot… but my dad only got £2,000. My head is still spinning after a ‘strange’ week

She added: “I’ve been to Devon a few times; I went there with my husband Jack. I might go back if I can get someone to come with me. Maybe I’ll also visit my daughter, who lives in Spain.”

Sadie joked that she hoped the money would show up in her bank account sooner rather than later, given her age.

She said, “The sooner the better, in case I die tomorrow.”

Sharon, who works for Glasgow City Council, danced around in excitement after her mother’s check was unveiled.

She shouted, “Wohoo! Here we go! This is brilliant…amazing. We’ll split the check, but I’m sad I never signed up.

“I don’t know why I never did that. Probably because my mom was playing and I was doing other things. I should have, but I’ll start now.”

Sharon is now planning a renovation of her home – and a treat for her partner, blacksmith Paul Gallagher, 54.

Sharon said, “I’ll think of something to do with the money. Maybe redecorate, buy a new bathroom. Paul just wants a special fish dinner.”

It comes after a woman told how she won a £145,000 lottery jackpot but her father only got £2,000.

And another woman revealed she received a scary sign before winning the People’s Postcode Lottery.
