The Powerball jackpot didn't start because there were no division 1 winners, even as the prize increases $150 million for next week's drawing on January 25.

Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said up to half of all Australian adults bought a ticket during the draw.

“This is the largest jackpot offered by an Australian lottery game in more than six months, and we expect a busy period, both in-store and online, leading up to the final minutes before the draw closes,” she said.

She added that the biggest tip for players who want to win big is to sign up early and register their participation.

“By registering your ticket on a player card or online account, we can contact you straight after the draw if you win big,” Ms Hobdell said.
