Avid football fan Prince William reveals the real reason he supports Aston Villa
PRINCE William has revealed why he is supporting Aston Villa.
The prince, an avid football fan and chairman of the FA, has always raised eyebrows in football circles for his choice of club.

Wills, 41, has never lived in Birmingham and there is no family connection to Villa passed down through the royal generations.
But he revealed the reason during a chat with lifelong Wrexham fans, brothers Trevor and Alan Roberts, 73 and 76, during his trip to the Racecourse ground yesterday.
He said: “A good friend took me to my first match when I was high, when Paul Merson was playing for them.
“When we were relegated I wanted to support them even more, but it is emotional and it hurts.”

During a 2015 interview before Villa’s FA Cup final against Arsenal, the Prince of Wales claimed: “A long time ago I started playing football at school.
“All my friends were Chelsea or Manchester United fans and I didn’t really want to follow the regular team,” he said.
“I wanted to have a team that was more in the middle of the league and could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments. Aston Villa has always had a great history.”
Wills took his whole family to see Villa play Norwich City in October 2019.
