Princess Charlene wore patriotic attire to celebrate her adopted country’s national day on Sunday.

As she arrived for Mass at Monaco Cathedral with Prince Albert, 65, this morning, the South African-born Monegasque royal, 45, wore an all-red ensemble, with her husband in full military regalia.

The couple’s two children, twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, eight, did not appear to attend the service, despite attending previous years’ celebrations.

Mother-of-two Charlene, 45, wore an elegant red pillbox hat, a double-breasted coat over a red dress and suede knee-high boots in the same shade.

The royal even extended the color to her earrings, wearing a pair of diamond and ruby floral jewels that glittered in Monaco’s bright sunshine.

Monaco’s National Day is also known as the Day of the Sovereign Prince and the date of the celebration is chosen by the reigning Prince.

Traditionally, the princes chose the day of the saint after whom they were named.

But when Prince Albert inherited the title, he decided to choose the same day as his father instead of St. Albert’s day, which would have been November 15.

It is usually celebrated with fireworks over the harbor the night before, and a mass in Monte Carlo the next morning.

The couple were also joined by other European royals, including Princess Caroline of Hanover and Princess Stephanie of Monaco.

Charlene has had a busy few weeks of public activities and was last seen on Thursday helping to distribute gifts at the Red Cross Christmas giveaway in Monaco.

The royal wore a navy blue wool waistcoat as she joined Prince Albert and their niece, Camilla Gottllieb, 25, at the Royal Palace in Monte Carlo for the outing.

Charlene appeared relaxed as she handed out gifts to attendees.

The annual charity benefit is part of a number of events organized by the Red Cross in the run-up to Christmas in Monaco, with members of the Royal Family giving gifts to those in need.

Charlene wrapped herself up against the cold in a navy blue wool waistcoat with leather lapels, which she wore over a black turtleneck and trousers.

During the event, members of the royal family spoke with some Red Cross volunteers who took part in the gift distribution.

They also heard the story of vulnerable people stocking up on presents in the run-up to Christmas.

It comes after Prince Albert and Princess Charlene put on a united front as they attended the closing night of the Festival Des Étoilés in Monte Carlo last weekend.

The royal couple – who have faced rumors about their crumbling marriage in recent months – huddled next to each other as they posed for a photo at the glamorous gala honoring Michelin-starred chefs at the end of the high-end cooking festival.

This summer, rumors swirled that the couple were living separate lives, with Charlene spending much of her time in Switzerland.

German newspaper Voici reported that the couple co-parented their eight-year-old twins, Jacques and Gabriella, but that their marriage itself was “just for appearances” and that they were a “ceremonial couple.”

In stark contrast, the couple appeared to put such rumors to rest at the Rugby World Cup final in October, looking incredibly close as they cheered from the stands.
