Meanwhile, her husband wore a traditional ensemble with a fitted black jacket and navy blue trousers.

Princess Caroline, Albert’s older sister, was also in attendance, wearing a blue and orange sequin top and satin skirt.

Meanwhile, her daughter, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, attended in a chic black halter dress.

The royals received flowers and were greeted by an adorable group of children wearing traditional Monegasque costumes.

Monaco’s National Day is also known as the Day of the Sovereign Prince and the date of the celebration is chosen by the reigning Prince.

Traditionally, the princes chose the day of the saint after whom they were named. But when Prince Albert inherited the title, he decided to choose the same day as his father instead of St. Albert’s day, which would have been November 15.

It is usually celebrated with fireworks over the harbor the night before, and a mass in Monte Carlo the next morning.

Earlier in the day, the couple donned patriotic attire to celebrate Monaco’s National Day on Sunday – and their two children followed suit.

As she arrived with Prince Albert for Mass at Monaco Cathedral, South African-born Monegasque royal Charlene wore an all-red ensemble, with her husband in full military regalia.

The couple’s two children, twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, aged eight, were not seen with their parents at the Mass, but did later appear on a cute balcony, wearing outfits that made them mini-mes of their parents.

Charlene wore an elegant red pillbox hat, a double-breasted coat over a red dress and suede knee-high boots in the same shade.

The royal even extended the color to her earrings, wearing a pair of diamond and ruby floral jewels that glittered in Monaco’s bright sunshine.

Little princess Gabriella opted for an almost identical outfit, but in navy blue, with neat black patent shoes. And the young Prince Jacques wore a military uniform similar to his father’s for the formal occasion.

The couple were also joined by other European royals, including Princess Caroline of Hanover and Princess Stephanie of Monaco.
